Schrodinger's Equation

- example #3 -

3. Decreasing of the potential

    Experiment:
A gaussian wave package is moving into an area with negative potential energy. As a result, the speed of the wave is increasing and so the its wave length is getting shorter. In opposition to the classical theory, a certain part of the wave is reflected.

    Further experiments:

  • If the decrease of the potential energy (for example Höhe = -8), the wave cannot enter the area at all: it is totally reflected. This effect can't be explained classically.
